probably the coolest thing I've ever seen
There is this house not far from mine, I pass it when I’m on my way to school or when I am going to work. The man who lives there bought this old hearse in the fall and used it as a large lawn ornament for Halloween, complete with a made-up cemetery. Just last week, on the way to work, the hearse was in the driveway. It looked a little different, painted white with a ladder on the side,...

I wrote for SoundCheck magazine from about 2002-2003, and I’ve been out of the loop since I decided to focus on school and stopped writing for a while.
About a few years back, I thought I’d jump back into the writing game and searched around for the website, only to find out that SoundCheck was no more.
Turns out, in 2004 the magazine stopped printing mainly because there is so much...

Teen Book Festival 2009
I’m usually down on Rochester (as is my theme of Flour City Blues) and usually whine about how nothing comes to Rochester. Besides being known for the Garbage Plate, Kodak and Lou Gramm, there’s isn’t much going on here.
Thankfully, Nazareth College is playing host the 4th Annual Teen Book Festival. I am absolutely excited for this year’s panel, which includes Sara Zarr...

Greetings from the library
I’m just so excited to say that I managed to save some of my old manuscript. I did some playing around and got a large portion of it back. There is a lot missing, but it’ll have to do. At least I don’t have to rewrite it all over again.
Time to get back to work!!!!

my writing crisis, Degrassi and what's going on in...
Wednesdays I devote my time to write. So this past Wednesday I was up real early, fired up my laptop and was excited to get to work….that is until I could not open my file. Apparently, it is corrupted. I’ve done everything possible to tryo to retrieve it, but I can’t. I went through a range of emotions…well mainly anger and then being bummed out. I sat there on my bedroom...
why, oh why...
…must everything be wrong now???!?!?!?
My manuscript file is corrupted and I can’t open it.
I have an extra partial version saved and a hard copy of my recent work. Looks like I have more work to do.

here comes the bronchiosaurus
I’ve had the flu since Wednesday. I’ve been doped up on everything under the sun and made it through work.
Saturday, my fever reached a near 102, and I was reportedly talking nonsense in my sleep by my family. I had major chills, so I made myself into a burrito with all the blankets on my bed….so I’m sure my temperature was at the level of experinencing delirium.

now we're not exactly the joke nation anymore
Work halted today during lunchtime, and all the staff and students got together to watch the inauguration.
Obama’s speech emphasized the proverbial “we”. Changes cannot happen unless “we” want them to happen.
Tomorrow, as Day1, Obama has his work cut out for him. I hope the next four years show some sort of turnaround.
My goodness, isn’t this the...

resolutions with a purpose
The new year is here, and with that goes resolutions. I usually don’t make them, or if I do, they’re usually broken seconds after making them. What makes this year so different is that I’m really trying to finish my manuscript which is nagging me to get done. Plus, I have so many projects and things that I want to finish as well as start focusing on grad school. I have three more...
new year's day
It’s 2009. Whoopity doo!
Many things to get done this year. I plan to finish FCB (really soon) and I’m working on whipping up a website featuring some of my past music writing. How ‘bout that?

Merry Christmas!
I’m getting back to my writing on the 26th. Working on more reviews for TTCBB, and Flour City Blues as well.
For the time being, I’ve gotta do the holiday stuff…you know the cooking and drinking lots of eggnog.
Merry ho ho ho,

tiny update
I have to get through this week. I’m going to try my hardest at not using a sick day, this week. I gotta suck it up and use the rest in January until I leave for school.
I’m working on a couple more reviews for The Truth Can Be Brutal. I’m really excited to get these ones done, hopefully by tomorrow so they can be posted asap.

Favorite author post, or why I decided to get into...
I managed to have a small block of freetime, so I figured I would complete this little meme…
1. Who’s your all-time favorite author, and why?
I am part of the “Catcher Cult.” If you haven’t read King Dork, you may not get the reference, if you do, that’s fantastic. I love Catcher in the Rye. Its a cliché, I know, but its just so darn good of a book. I also like...

I have fallen back into writing about music again. This time, hop on over to the link that is located above and check out my review on the reissue of the Riverdales’ Phase Three as well as some other sweet show and CD reviews written by Mark Lind (Ducky Boys/Unloved) and some other fine folks who have a great ear and opinion for music.

I'm not goth, er whatever....
…but I do love Emily Strange. And Jones Soda.
Now they have come together to bring you lonely, fizzy goodness. Yes, I know, you’re absolutely excited too.
Currently, a 6-pack is going for 15.99 at jonessoda.com, which is a little too rich for my blood right now. The idea though, is intensely cute and I just love the packaging, which six different labels have been created for the...

sweet liberation shall be coming soon
I don’t have much to update on….
I haven’t been writing AT ALL in the last couple of weeks because work has taken over my soul like a brain-hungry zombie. I hope to get some more of it done soon. I have plenty of other story ideas I’m stirring around in my head and they are itching to be put on paper.
December will be my last month at my job. I’m leaving to go back...
I used to have this cartoon on an old VHS tape. I know it has been lost in the shuffle so it cannot be unearthed. Just the other day, I was thinking about it for some reason, and had to find it to get my fix. After some hard searching (surprised it is not on YouTube), I finally found it.
So without further ado, Goofy in “Lion Down.” 1951.
oh jeeeeez
I hate my job, and I guess I have to continue my search for another agent.
Not that I was expecting representation with the first one anyway, but I was hoping for a little sunshine today….
back to work
Summer’s over. I start work tomorrow. The good thing is that a paycheck will be back in my hands every two weeks again. The bad thing?
I start work tomorrow. Last year, I became so turned off by my job. Who knew so much corruption would lie in a school? I’ve made the decision to try and make it one more school year and then go away for grad school. I don’t know if its a New York...

contest opportunity!!!!
I’m almost done with my first manuscript of my YA fiction book. Its about rock n’ roll but completely different from that of King Dork or I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone. Its not that gritty, but its going to have plenty of rock, barbecue and love, francais-style. Let’s just say it the senior year of high school you never had.
I’m including many lyrics in the book to other...

pressure point
I celebrated my 25th birthday this last weekend in a blur of cakes, cupcakes (well, two cakes and too many babycakes shoved down my gullet) and some Woodchuck to wash it down. And bang! Another year gone gone gone. Where did 24 go? I swear the last year was so fast. In writing news…… I’ve been working steadily on getting my draft done. I really want to get it out asap and someday hope the world...
hey!
Last summer I started the idea of the first novel and have been working on it since. FLOUR CITY BLUES is my idea of what Will Ferrel would get if one of his films were actually a novel. Its a mash of local flavor, with Rochester as its backdrop. There’s also rock n’ roll, barbecue, French girls, crazy parents (aren’t they always!!?!?), more rock n’ roll, partying, senior...
